Death, Grief, and All That Comes With It...

Girl With An Addiction is writing about a sad topic tonight. Death.

When you lose someone you love, it's hard to handle grief. Sometimes, the only thing you can do is cry. Maybe curl up into a ball and just cry your eyes out. Every person grieves differently and in their own way. When death overcomes you, the feelings of happiness just disappear. You begin to wonder why. Why did God do this? Why did he need to take them away. Why did they need to go?

In some cases, you never had the chance to tell them how much you loved them. Or how much you wished there could be more time. Or even how silly that stupid fight was. But now it's too late, you don't know what to do or say, but you know it hurts. You can't bear to think of them, because you'll just end up crying again.

In public, you put on a happy face, smile and bottle up your emotions until you can't hold them anymore, then they all just come tumbling out, whether it be when you're alone, or in public.

It's hard. It's more than hard, it's tragically heartbreaking. Some people don't eat, sleep or shower for days on end. Others lock themselves away, emotionally and physically. Gone are the hours and minutes of socialising, which are replaced by hours and minutes of loneliness and isolation. Depression is often the result of this grieving process.

Death is the saddest and most painful thing one can deal with. It can take over your life emotionally and make you shut yourself away from the world physically too. The most important and helpful thing to do is talk to someone.

Talk to them about the person you lost. Share the good times, reflect on the bad times. Explain how you felt before and after. Ask for advice, or ask them to just listen.

My baby brother Lachlan was taken by SIDS, 9 years ago today. I miss him so much. I will never forget him, and I will always love him.

RIP Lachlan, you will never leave my heart baby brother.
